A comprehensive asbestos survey provides the cornerstone for any asbestos management strategy. As a vital part of the process, All Clear Solutions can undertake a full range of asbestos surveys. Our client’s are then provided with a user friendly survey report locating all asbestos containing materials, plans, photographs and management recommendations.

All surveys are carried out in compliance with MDHS100 by our fully trained and competent survey teams.

Type 1: Location and assessment survey (presumptive survey)

The purpose of a Type 1 survey is to locate as far as reasonably practicable the presence and extent of any suspected asbestos containing materials. No samples are taken to determine the presence of asbestos. Materials are to be presumed or strongly presumed to contain asbestos following examination by a competently trained surveyor.

Clients using a Type 1 asbestos survey may incur additional management costs for non-asbestos materials.

Type 2: Standard sampling identification and assessment survey (sampling survey)

The purpose and procedures are the same as a Type 1 survey with the addition of representative samples being taken and analysed to determine or refute the presence of asbestos. During a Type 1 and Type 2 survey access maybe limited as care is taken not to damage the fixtures, fittings and finishes of the building.


Type 3: Full access sampling and identification survey (pre- demolition / major refurbishment surveys)

A Type 3 survey will - as far as reasonably practicable - access all areas of the building and identify all asbestos containing materials. Intrusive examinations maybe necessary in order to carry out a full sampling programme. The survey is designed to act as part of the tendering process for asbestos removal prior to demolition and refurbishment projects.
